20 Years of 'Seeing is Believing’
Celebrating a remarkable journey of two decades, Standard Chartered Bank's 'Seeing is Believing' program marks its 20th anniversary this World Sight Day. Launched in 2003 in India, this initiative has been a beacon of hope, dedicated to eradicating avoidable blindness. Over these years, it has reached over 15 million people, with a commitment to extend its reach to 18 million in the next three years through strategic collaborations and initiatives. 'Seeing is Believing' has played a pivotal role in establishing a robust eye care infrastructure in India, with equity at its core.Â
In the next three years, the program aims to reach an additional 3 million individuals and carry out over 112,000 cataract procedures. The Bank's strategies for expanding the program include moving into underserved areas, fostering innovation through technology and partnerships, diversifying services to encompass eye care, empowering women in leadership roles, preventing avoidable blindness through awareness campaigns, and building the capacity of eye care professionals.
