Transforming Rural Education
Under the Parivartan Model School Project initiated by Relaxo Footwears Limited, a heartwarming event took place on October 10, 2023, at GPS Lalchandwala. This event marked the official handover of 38 government schools to the School Management Committee and Education Department. These schools, situated in Khanpur Block and Laksar Block, witnessed significant infrastructure improvements in 2022-2023. This project has been a remarkable success, as it involved infrastructure development, including the construction and renovation of main gates, boundary walls, stages, and more, in 104 government schools. The construction of 89 new toilet blocks and the installation of Building as a Learning Aid (BaLA) designs have been invaluable additions to these schools.
Moreover, the project has organized various training sessions and meetings for teachers, school management committees, students, parents, and the community, fostering a holistic approach to education. The event was a testament to the success of the Parivartan Model School Project, showcasing the synergy between corporate, government, and community efforts. Dr. Sati appreciated Relaxo's partnership with the Education Department and its positive impact on rural education. It marked a significant step towards improving the quality of education and infrastructure in these areas, highlighting the power of collaborative partnerships in driving positive change.
Godrej's Project EMBED - Battling Malaria
Godrej's Project EMBED (Elimination of Mosquito Borne Endemic Diseases) has emerged as a transformative force in the battle against malaria. India, while contributing only 1.7% of global malaria cases, bears a significant 85.2% of the malaria burden in Southeast Asia. With over 20,000 deaths annually attributed to malaria, the nation faces a critical public health challenge. However, it is on a mission to completely eliminate malaria by 2030. The EMBED initiative, launched by Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) on World Malaria Day in 2017, has expanded its reach to Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. This expansion will impact 1,50,000 people at risk of malaria across 200 villages in these states.
Project EMBED is designed to empower communities through behavior modification campaigns, education delivery, and awareness-raising initiatives. It focuses on enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals for better case diagnosis and treatment. GCPL collaborates with Family Health India and state health departments to implement this critical program. In its first phase, EMBED made remarkable progress, increasing awareness and prevention of mosquito-borne diseases in Madhya Pradesh. The second phase expanded to seven additional districts, achieving a substantial decrease in malaria prevalence. With a commitment to eradicating malaria in India by 2030, Project EMBED represents a scalable approach to make this vision a reality, truly marking it as a transformative force in the fight against malaria.
