‘Balsnehi’ buses, an initiative to rehabilitate street-children

Under this initiative, the government has converted decommissioned buses into mobile shelters, providing safe and secure living spaces for street children. The buses are equipped with facilities such as beds, toilets, and a kitchen, and staffed by social workers who provide education, counselling, and healthcare services to children in need. This innovative initiative is helping to address the urgent issue of child homelessness and improve the lives of vulnerable children in India. Nonprofits working in the field of child welfare can collaborate with the government to provide additional services to these children and support this valuable initiative. We applaud the government's efforts to provide a safe haven for street children and hope to see more such initiatives in the future. Learn more about this initiative here.
